Anyone learning a new language this year? Which one and how are you planning to approach it?

Been thinking about linguistics/ language learning channel lately to share best practices and whatnot.

I read a lot about how to learn new languages which technics to you bla bla and then my friend told me oh I’ve been doing this Duolingo thing every morning for 5-10 min for two years straight and I’m fluent in Spanish. I didn’t believe her at first but then she started speaking and I was shocked. 😂

Needless to say I installed Duolingo and I’m on my 97th day streak. So I replaced my morning Instagram routine with it and it’s good. I also got some friends along the way so we nudge each other when someone is trying to slack.

It's definitely not the greatest. They have their own teaching methods that they practice. I'm not crazy about it either but it works. Especially when you have a few friends doing the same. :) I'm 3 months in and quite happy with my progress. 🤷‍♂️

Felt the same for me. I honestly don’t care about the “game” part of it either, and it seemed it’s more focused on that vs teaching the language. I’m only a week in, so maybe I need to give it more time. 🤷‍♂️

Okay I had to reinstall Duolingo just now😅 they have so many languages, even Esperanto?! I think my problem with it was that I tried learning languages I already knew the basics of and it felt kinda useless. 
Will try with Portuguese now (though they only have Brazilian still…). Thank you for sharing!
