If I were to redesign Ethereum's tokenomics, I would make a few adjustments to improve accessibility and long-term sustainability. First, gas fees remain a huge barrier for the average user. Therefore, one of the first things I would do is to more naturally integrate Layer 2s (like Arbitrum, Optimism, or Base) into the ETH token model. I would offer discounts or rewards for using Layer 2s or transferring liquidity. A portion of the fees generated on those Layer 2s would be used to burn ETH or reward active users, not just validators. I would also address how staking is still somewhat proprietary. Currently, you need 32 ETH to stake yourself, or you must use a centralized service. It would be great if small stakers had more direct and transparent ways to participate without relying on third parties.
