my dad constantly challenged me growing up i didn’t always love it, but it taught me how to challenge myself — how to try and fail and try again and believe and grow and do the damn thing no matter the outcome, he made it clear that what mattered most is who i am not what i do 🤍 hfd!!

My dad was the same way. Hated it at the time but now looking back I see the benefits it has brought me. My dad owned a small business. Made my brother and I work there since we were like 13. Didn’t pay us either. It sounds bad but it kept the operating costs down and our family lived off the profits. I do need to learn how to chill a bit though.

I think what hurts many adults is to acknowledge our father's love too late many times. But that's part of getting grown up I guess.

Sometimes in my childhood I often did not understand my father when he said that I needed to decide what I wanted to do, I had no time for it because I was young, but now I understand my father and thank him for instilling in me that I needed the work of my whole life. And here I am among talented people and I am grateful for this.

I wish my father were still here today because I owe him a significant amount - I owe him a lot of thanks and more than a couple apologies. Dad challenged my brother and I constantly to be the best we could be in anything and everything and we are so much the better for it. I strive to raise my own kids similarly.

Good article. Father's Day makes me think a lot. I'm a dad too, When I was young, my father seemed very big, but in hindsight, I realized he was the same person. grateful.
