Apple Studios confirmed its spot as an S-tier producer. after severance, lessons in chemistry, ted lasso, CODA, etc., they deliver this movie. kinda crazy bc years ago i met the "drive to survive" producers at laguna seca well before anyone cared about f1 and they said they hoped their show would change that. it did.

I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that the two Sony execs they brought over came with all the lessons + a blank slate + big budget + big distribution

agree, and I'm glad it worked out for them. seems like Netflix constantly pushes out an insane amount of content (of varying levels of quality), whereas Apple is a bit more thoughtful about its content (even though Apple TV+ is hemorrhaging $$).

Netflix just loves playing the scale / Walmart game. Feels on-brand for a company founded by business guys, not artist or filmmakers. Apple at least understands that a loss-leader still needs to honor the artistry, I just wish they were willing to push the envelope, since they do have that blank slate (not messy like the water Paramount & Warner Discovery are in, or confused like Disney & Universal)
