do you think this is good or bad? why? i'm typically not in favor of government getting involved in industries, but i don't work in healthcare whereas you do - would love your inside perspective.

Its a short term bandaid to preserve essential services like stroke/trauma in the case of RMC. But long term its not good as now these hospital and patients enter the political arena when it comes to funding. Getting new equipment, fixing broken ones, providing latest in treatments all become much harder and are at the mercy of which way the winds are blowing for federal and state funding. Currently, with expected Medicaid cuts looming, will be harder to maintain access. Disproportionally impacts low income communities like the San Jose Latino community in the case of RMC.
