My father died in 1991. He worked as an architectural specifications writer for the US Army Corps of Engineers (civil service). Like my mother, he was a bibliophile. My folks started teaching me to read at the age of 3. He was also a computer nerd who loved to tinker. My brother and I both spent a lot of time using my dad's Commodore 64/128 computers in the 1980s. Without that extensive early exposure to books and computers in the home, I doubt I would've become an early adopter who got online in 1993. My life might have taken an entirely different course. Thanks, Dad. RIP and Happy Father's Day.
