The Internet is upstream of Streamers
---------------------------------------
Attention on the Internet is really hard. Streamers don’t make it easier on themselves: a new tv show / film / anime is posted on their platform and the interactions (views, starts, stopping points, rewatches) are all cataloged to decide if it is a hit or not.
But getting people to their platform comes from somewhere else _ Timelines. Streamers compete with a laundry list of other things on any given day, not like the gated attention world of print and tv advertising.
Timeline interactions + streaming platform conversion rates are also used to decide whether to continue a show or even explore proximity for related stories.
Thus timelines influence the very start of filmmaking, also known as Development, all the way through to the end, known as Distribution. Click, click, decide.
Filmmakers, by the way, don’t get access to this data map, so there is no way to test or even guide creation. So why don’t creatives and artists create through the Internet?
