Japan is keenly aware of their lack of success in translating their massive global soft power into domestic prosperity. They are hopeful that web3 can offer better economics for monetizing cultural assets. On the right is a pic I took last year at WebX (major web3 conference) where Prime Minister at the time, Kishida gave a keynote offering his support. You don't hear too much about it bc they move pretty quietly, massive rugpulls are simply not condoned in Japan and the public in general are more cautious and do not "ape" into projects like they do in the West.
