…were the same people who, years later, shrugged off well over a million deaths as “not a big deal.”

thinking about people who are horrified about the Big Beautiful Bill dogshit being passed (“kids are going to go without health care or food” / “threatens millions of jobs” / “85% of nursing home residents are on Medicaid”…)

and wishing i could tell them, there’s a large % of Americans who I guarantee Do Not Care.

They Do Not Fucking Care. You must understand this. I would love to be proven wrong or to pretend that the same people who said “yeah a million deaths, but it was just a bunch of fkn old people and unhealthy people” were somehow an anecdotal super-minority or have changed their minds. But does it feel that way these days?
