Lowkey thinking about doing a write up on this whole escapade. It’s so absurd I think more people need to be aware how deep Next.js goes. I need to retest the scenario on v15 instead of v14 which a client was using and took us days to debug.

oh shiz that's me 🫨 re NextJS, it's the only thing that made me feel both very stupid and smart once I learned all its hidden behaviors and knew it like an extension of myself

What are some of the main reasons you use Next.js? Genuinely curious

it's a combination of reasons, and not always at the same time 1. everyone that is not technical but knows about react goes to NextJS so I have to acomodate that 2. smart guys like Jack Herrington having specific guides for it (his course is literally called Pro NextJS) 3. the sheer amount of packages and the community 4. a team that for good or worse, is working on it 24/7, and has the biggest funding by a few orders of magnitude 5. this ties to no. 2 but all the articles and tutorials from other people living with the same misery of having to use it

re 3: what kind of packages? in my experience most of what you use in next works in react too, and most frameworks like shadcn have vite+react setups

true, but most of them starting being next specific or heavily prioritizing eg. next-cookies, next-auth, nextUI
