I really hate this trend where people claim they’re neurodivergent

Is your issue with the word itself that is the wrong word to use or with people claiming neurodivergence when they don’t actually have it? Or that everyone is neurodivergent to some degree because of how our brains work and the line is arbitrary? Or because why use big word when small word do same thing?

I always hear it used as a way to excuse some kind of maladaptive behavior. Like being unable to focus or procrastinating. There certainly are neurodivergent people, just don’t self proclaim it

Lol. What, both of these are quite literally two of the most common characteristics of two of the most common forms of "neurodivergence" (ADHD and Depression). So it seems like you simply take issue with people being neurodivergent.

No, you’re assuming just because people say they have something then they do :)

I mean, I guess? I tend to take people at their word about their health and diagnosis. I'm not gonna ask to see their health records or psych reports. I think it's more of a leap to assume people are being dishonest about it when they try to contextualize some of their behavior by letting you in on that part of them.
