I’ve been living in Lima since 2017 and traveling a lot more around South America lately.
Outside the region, fashion headlines are mostly about landfills, deforestation, and fast fashion. On the ground, I’m seeing something completely different: alpaca + vicuña ateliers, VR‑born jewelry, thoughtful leather + prêt‑à‑couture brands.
I wrote up a long-form “field notes” piece on the labels I actually wear from Peru, Colombia, Brazil, and Bolivia, and why I think South America is a wellspring of design rather than an afterthought.
