Neil Gaiman’s *The Sandman* follows Morpheus, the Dream King, and humans crossing paths with him or his eternal siblings. Netflix’s first season stuck close to the comics’ style, shifting between these stories. But showrunner Allan Heinberg noticed TV audiences didn’t connect with that approach as much.
