Introducing ‘re-frame’, an artwork that takes an approach to turn computational space into a metaphysical environment. It combines a landscape with a still life from different authors found in the CC0-licensed collection data of the Finnish National Gallery in its implementation
're-frame' has been selected into one of the shortlisted artworks of Combine24, a generative art competition
The initial appearance displays fragments of the artworks. Another, semi-hidden view can also be accessed, which extracts the six most prominent colors of the collage, and displays them as embedded frames
The title and description of each iteration is generated by combining the available metadata of the selected artworks, resulting in a hybrid language, specific to the dataset
The live, interactive version of ‘re-frame’ will be exhibited between Fri 20 September to Sat 26 October 2024 at the Gallery in Vallila, Helsinki Finland
