Fed Governor Waller Backs Rate Cut at September Meeting - He's One of 12 Fed Members Who Vote on Rates "Given the progress we've made and the continued progress we've made on inflation and the labor market, I believe it's appropriate to lower rates at our next meeting." However, he did not specify how much or how often the Fed should cut rates He noted that if the labor market deteriorates faster than expected, the Fed would need to cut rates more aggressively for a "soft landing."
