Cast for the first time in a while gives off grifter vibes. Not saying it’s true. But that’s how I feel. Always feels like it’s extractive. Based on timing and lack of reason for the highlight.

Haven’t casted bc of this. Feels like a “fuck you guys, you were all wrong about Zora, even tho 99% of creators hated it, we’re gonna do the same thing here. Deal with it” 🤣🫠

I feel like it’s gonna work for “creators” posting pictures of their gym workouts and dinners out with friends. Or large influencers with pre-existing followings. But I think it’s going to continue to shaft the artists. There’s a big difference between a “creator” and an “artist” .. don’t let them fool you into thinking they mean “artist”

Are NFT's still the best "form factor" to benefit artists the most? Is there something akin to Zora/Base App/Farcaster Collectibles that works better? Been thinking a lot about it and don't know, hence why I'm asking.

I think so. Simple exchange. Artists are artists. Not liquidity managers an PR machines.

I haven't quite pieced it together, but I think Zora/Base App + Farcaster + Art NFT's can all (potentially) live together and be mutually beneficial. Similar to the way that artists showcase a work on Insta, but that's a diff experience from seeing it in a gallery or buying it and taking it home. I would also argue that artists have weirdly been forced into having to wear a lot more hats than they used to already and PR/marketing machine is already part of that. The thing I don't like about the Zora model is that artists (afaik) earn in the token created and thus need to 'trade' to make money off that. So I don't see it as a good place to launch art (if that's the intention). But if Zora is used for BTS-style or process stuff and an NFT of the art is the actual true end goal, then maybe there's a mix of things that work. Completely stream of consciousness so not sure if any of that makes sense 🤷♂️
