The US could absolutely crush China over the long term by giving green cards to any graduate student that graduated from a US university and cultivating the best and brightest minds in the world. China on the other hand, cannot do something like that at scale because allowing such large numbers of immigrants with Western values and thinking would prove to be too large of a threat to CCP's grip on power. CCP's biggest weakness is their need to maintain absolute power.
