Thomas Frank has been the best Premier League manager over the last 10 years when it comes to getting the most out of a modest squad. His Brentford side averages 1.32 points per game, while their expected points — calculated based on team budget and player wages — sit at 0.79 per game. Frank is outperforming expectations by an average of 0.53 points per match. And this isn’t just about one or two good seasons — like with some Brighton managers. Frank has been working wonders for four straight seasons. But that doesn’t automatically mean he’ll succeed at Tottenham. Brentford is a brilliantly run club that has helped Frank squeeze out every bit of potential. Tottenham’s structure, on the other hand, has historically done more to hold managers back than support them.
