Does anyone around here play or have played any board game of the Warhammer universe? 

It is the board game that I enjoy the most every time I have the opportunity to play it. Being able to play with the miniatures assembled and painted by you is something special.

i started playing 40k at the tail end of 9th edition and have since pivoted into pretty much full-time 30k.

for 40k I play Grey Knights, 30k is Luna Wolves (loyalist SoH).

agreed re: playing with your own built & painted minis, it's top tier

Of course, playing with your miniatures painted by you is the best :D

How is WH 30k Horus Heresy? do the rules change a lot?

that's probably the best thing about 30k, rules don't happen in "edition" cycles like 40k. the rules are generally static, and if you stopped today and returned in 5 years, there's a good chance your old rulebook is still valid.

feels old school for sure. 10th is very optimized. we refer to 30k games as “crunchy”
