Fear keeps Americans addicted to the 2 party system. Vote your values, nothing requires you to stay in this broken system

I don’t think it’s fear. Voting 3rd party in a 2 party system is useless. We need to change the system. Rank choice voting. Multiple parties. Real options.

And I would argue that calling it useless is fearing it won’t lead to your vote being for the winner. 100% agree that ranked choice voting would be a great way to end this system, I just have 0 faith in elected officials to allow that to happen

Useless because my vote still has some value if I vote for one of the 2 parties in the current system. If I vote 3rd party, my vote has no value except as a spoiler and I don’t control which party I spoil. We need to change the system- that won’t be accomplished by voting 3rd party.

It sounds like we agree to disagree here. This mindset of having to vote within in 2 parties for your vote to matter is fear and is precisely what is keeping this as a game controlled by those in power. Changing the system will require folks with a radical mindset in office or another revolution. Personally, I'd prefer to vote in those with the mind to change the system vs continue to participate in this sporting event of Red vs Blue
