I had to stop following people because of the current algorithm and start prioritizing my friends and established network When I follow a smaller account now a days, the algorithm pushes me (what feels like) A LOT of only that new people’s content… and if I follow them, new people end up taking most of my feed. And unfortunately, a lot of new accounts with no crypto knowledge ask basic crypto questions that have been asked and answered 1000 times on the Farcaster forum… and I don’t want to see crypto newbie type questions on my feed all day, or the alternative which is lifestyle slop content when you first join— I’ve been there, I once was new on Farcaster. The difference is when I was new 18 months ago, so was almost EVERYONE. We’ve churned probably a million users with less than 1% dau retention left. As such, I feel loyalty to legacy accounts and I have to prioritize that 1% that has been here and stuck around through many different “seasons” of Farcaster (or warpcast for the og’s) I need to prioritize my feed and my algorithm to show legacy accounts and their content. That’s why I stopped following people recently and begun unfollowing people more. The algorithm pushes too much of new account content whether I follow or not. I am simply adapting my behavior around it. This is why I believe the algorithm is currently disenfranchising new users from the og Farcaster user base. Seen many legacy accounts complaining of these new accounts and their “content.”

The current algo is trash. I mean I don’t really mind. It’s also kind of fun to watch a bunch of OGs lose there ever loving minds. But it’s clearly trash.
