what worries you about the custom resolver? (btw i built enspro)

I honestly didn’t know they existed 😅 Looking back now it would have been a lot easier, but I also really appreciated the experience I gained with the project. It was cool to combine it with a new smart contract standard for IPFS though: https://pinata.cloud/blog/ipcm-and-ens-how-to-use-hybrid-ens-resolvers-to-bridge-onchain-data-2/ 

Definitely saving Namestone for future projects though!

interesting -- i call our resolver hybrid as well as any onchain records supersede offchain records -- this is why the eth60 for slobo.eth is  onchain since if it wasn't then etherscan wouldn't pick it up

though seems like my hybrid is done differently than your hybrid :-) 

i'd love to hear why you choose a custom resolver vs. using something like namestone -- or others in the subname space

Oh nice! That’s actually a solid value prop. 

I’m not actually worried about custom resolvers, I just happen to use one myself lol 😂 I’m building orbiter.host and we have an ENS feature where a user can link their site to their ENS via a custom resolver so we can dynamically update the contentHash. The approach we took though was a hybrid resolver, so it will check for public resolver records first before falling back to the offchain record. Anything I want to set on my ENS I still do through the public resolver so it doesn’t go away when I change my resolver again.
