Anyone have a good crash course on soldering? Kids broke an xbox controller, and new hal effect sticks are $10. A repair at a local shop is $60, which is more than a new controller.

Slide 5: "Psst... etc" they called it cleaning, its really tinning the tip. You do that by getting your iron hot, cover the tip in solder (not the whole thing just the tip) and drag the tip on a damp sponge or paper towels (not sopping but wet) Now its beautiful and shiny! Remember: The shaft and tip of the iron is hot, only hold it by the handle. If you have a cheaper iron it may take longer than what the image below states. Be mindful not to let solder flow sloppily to other components. 🫡
