Design

To get good you need three things: 

- learn the fundamentals 
[composition, balance, unity, white space, contrast, etc]

- practice, practice, and practice [create studies around typography and images practicing various forms of the fundamentals]

- study from life, visit museums [design is everywhere, seek the fundamentals in everything]

My other musing I’d add:

You can learn a tool. It’s the mental framing that you need to train more than anything. 

Great design comes from an understanding that you are creating in service of [insert person, place, thing]. You need to have soft skills, empathy and a massive reference drawer. You have to always be curious. Ask why and how often.
