learning that people canโ€™t imagine how things look or donโ€™t have an internal monologue is like discovering a new species. literally wtf how do you live like this

I honestly thought people were trolling but it feels like too many people are in on the joke for it to be fake ๐Ÿซจ

I have something like this, I think, and only realized it within the past couple years. When I read or write, I โ€œvisualizeโ€ things in a sense, but itโ€™s not really โ€œvisual.โ€ Like, if a book describes a grassy field full of flowers, I donโ€™t see it in my mind unless I stop reading and force myself to envision it. And even then, itโ€™s hazy and vague. But I do have some other version of a โ€œvisual,โ€ itโ€™s just not visual in nature. Like, I have the feeling and sense of exactly what that image is like. Just non-visual

itโ€™s a shortcut your brain takes. but you are able to fully visualize it when you focus on it. i do the same when reading

Ooh yeah it definitely does feel like a shortcut, yeah! It feels like my brain is skipping an intermediate step, and I can only rewind and go back to it if I pause the things on either end ๐Ÿ˜‚
