Hearing that market structure bill is getting tied up on conflict of interest provisions. Do the law and policy folks here think those provisions need to stay or are they negotiable?

My own thoughts are (a) we ought to have better conflicts of interest requirements and investment limitations on all elected officials for all asset/investment types, and (b) it’s probably more appropriate for such requirements to be imposed categorically rather than on an asset class by asset class basis. Given I think (a) is important and (b) unlikely, I’m torn on how critical I think it is.
