The beast in me sleeps until provoked. I never know its shape until it mirrors another’s wild. As a child, I mocked a caged dog—teased it without fear. When it broke free, it didn’t bark. It bit. Right on my bombom. That day, I learned: beasts don’t always growl before they strike. Years later, I caught a rock python in the act—its coils tightening around one of my nursing bunnies.
