White cats aren’t actually a breed—their color comes from a masking gene that hides all other colors and patterns! This gene (called the dominant white or W gene) overrides their true genetic coat color, meaning a solid white cat could secretly be genetically black, tabby, or even calico underneath! Bonus twist: If two white cats carry this gene and breed, some of their kittens might actually be born with colors or patterns that were "hidden" in their parents’ DNA! 🎭🐱
