I feel weird about the fact that more and more and more media is entering into the permanent high resolution body of data collection. There's going to be a just endless amount of film and video that looks reasonably the same as what we make now and the passage of time will feel more and more unreal compared to the movies you can pull up and stream on demand. Right now you can see Johnny Depp from 40 years ago in a format that's the same as a movie that comes out tomorrow. Actors and people who have died decades ago you can see and struggle to believe they are gone. Our sense of the reality of the world outside of movies will seem fake somehow compared to the projection of larger than life ageless scenes. Our feeling that somehow media is more real and timeless and meaningful than gross matter and depressing change will grow. We will be even more disconnected with an infinite sea of options of what to look at.
