also - my wife beat cancer 5 years ago, my mom had surgery last week,  and as a primary support person for somoene going through this, i know how special the work you are doing is to those that need it!

My mom and both of my in-laws passed away from cancer over the past 3 years so it also hits home for me and that keep me motivated.  Glad your wife is doing better and I understand what you're going through.  

What do you do in the healthcare field?

Yup, when I did my PhD I interacted with a lot of clinicians so am very aware.  I'm removed from patient interaction now but the work I'm doing is still important and like you said with life over the past few years keeps me motivated.
