@jesse.base.eth will base bring gas estimation back on-chain? Relying on an external official API involves a centralized point of failure for our poject.

Can you clarify what you mean? Nothing's changed with gas estimation. We changed the function used to compute L1 data fee if that's what you mean, but it's still the same API as before to compute the value.
