Okay! Old Turkish ladies will go masallah, allah işini rast getirisin and complete the prayer with what I assume is a “village rooted”tradition of pretending to spit all over the persons face for the prayer.. yeah no ppl just spit especially old ladies and you’re like, am I going to sound rude if I told them they just covered me in spit? Omg do you think they do this for shits and giggles?!?! Bc the evil eye prayers are the ones that get the most “tew tew tew” dramatized spitting action akin to voodoo but it’s Islam so, but yeah— I just spit all over your face, amen/amin. You got this. Well now, with the spitting and the praying ofc you do lol

Ppl not even related to me or who knew me but were sweet old ladies (some will pick your pockets btw) would walk over outside, do the short “evil eye prayers” bc they believe a jealous or other ill willed gaze can harm some people. And that i’m too beautiful to be out so much .. whaaa? I understand the cataracts but hey, I’m not staying cooped up than I am already from relatives pressures and beliefs that don’t vibe with me. Like for example, I saved my purse and self from a mugging while the mugger probably left with at least a dislocated nose and these relatives? Nothing but getting scolded and “what’s your business out so late so 10pm” interrogation where there’s insinuating the fault is mine. Imagine if I told them I used to box omg omg lol “what’s your business with the man sports?!” this shit is my business with it, you know? lol now it is
