Erich Fromm - The Art of Loving It’s a lovely book. It’s very short it’s about 100 pages I feel like it’s a book about how to love. I don’t think it’s a book that’s meant for everyone. I think it’s actually a book for himself that he wrote. Which ironically makes it more universal , and for everyone. It does feel like Erich Fromm elevates the idea of loving, whether it’s brotherly love or erotic love or love for self or love for God, he elevates it to an art form. And I think especially with his background of what he went through with his first wife. And then eventually with a second wife getting really sick and eventually committing suicide. And him meeting his third wife who he stayed with until he died. I think he wrote this book right around the time that he got married to his third wife. So… yeah it almost sounds like this book was a combination of his learnings as a psychiatrist as a psychologist lover a poet human – everything that he thought about around the art of love into one book and expressed and I think that’s wonderful.
