Some influencer just made a TikTok disparaging my girlfriend's small business (didn't name them directly but it was clear who she was talking about)

Her main point was that they charge too much and you can find embroidered items for cheaper elsewhere... and then she proceeds to give examples of Amazon and TikTok Shop (!!!)

Like yeah, let's ignore the fact that running a small business with a brick and mortar store in NYC and fairly employing 20+ people adds up to a bunch of costs and instead promote crap made overseas often in terrible working conditions

Just a disgusting thing to do, basically trading some views for punching down on a small business that's just trying their best and always does right by its customers and partners

I hear you. My partners small business catches heat every once in awhile for that same reason (crochet not embroidery though). The biggest lesson there for us has been: Not all of our products are “for everybody” (even though they are made for basically anybody). No, it’s not ideal, but we don’t decide who can afford her products and who can’t. Money does, and not everything can be crocheted inexpensively.
