Private education in Korea is globally known, and sadly, it’s embarrassing to admit that the suicide rate among middle and high school students due to academic stress is extremely high — even on a global scale.
Both my husband and I graduated from some of the top universities in Korea, but looking back now, we sometimes wonder, “Did it really matter?”
I wish I could’ve just played and enjoyed life like a kid at that age, but instead, I was always doing extra studies, going to tutoring, academies, and taking lessons. I barely had any time for myself during the week — even sleep was a luxury.
I just hope these experiences we’re giving our kids now will be remembered like precious gems one day. 1 reply
