The main prob in all exist'g curat'n systs is the same: money is power. The primary factor that determines whether content is good or bad is the size of the bag of the person making the decision. Since 2016 w/ Steemit, all systs created have been based on capital to give decision-making power. I don't think the future lies there in my opinion, curat'n should incl. more factors to obtain a qual. score. Bots & manip. make the task complex, but there are av. to explore. For ex. Quora had a remunerat'n syst for questioners that was eventually abandoned but initially enjoyed success. One of the factors considered was the # of external & internal views. This is really a pt that more curat'n systs should take into acct. And when you think about it, it's so logical. Qual. content naturally attracts visitors, & search engines have 20+ yrs of engineering that we can leverage. The q is broad I'm providing one element of an answer here, but if this reflection interests you, let me know & I'll delve deeper.

that's interesting not sure i follow as i haven't been a power user or quora or similar why isn't it as simple as show me what this curator has selected for me to look at? give the user the choice

Quora also has flaws & has been manipulated to display buzz posts to users one point, the "narcissistic pervert" theme was attracting all the attention on the platform😅 However, in terms of value redistribution, they distinguished themselves w/ their system of rewards for referencing & external views. It all depends on the curator & what defines them. If a curator has influence & determines what is good or not solely based on the size of their wallet, I don't think that's the future. On the other hand, if the curator themselves gets a score determined by several factors, such as the number of selected posts validated by a large audience & the total number of views obtained through natural referencing, then we will have made a big step forward. But here, I am just offering a broad reflection on the issue. In any case, systems like Openrank have a real place of choice, & I am sure they will be part of the future of curation we just need to find what to combine it to achieve the almost perfect system.

how about curator A curates across three topics, X, Y, and Z and a user can choose to subscribe to A-X but not A-Y/Z?
