The 15th Shanghai Biennale
“Does the flower hear the bee?”
will open 8 November 2025 at Power Station of Art in Shanghai, and run until 31 March 2026.
The exhibition includes over 250 works by 67 artists and collective groups from around the world.
Curated by Kitty Scott and her team, the show explores the intersection between human and “more-than-human” intelligence drawing on ideas about communication and shared consciousness between living beings. The metaphor behind the title suggests that a flower might “hear” a bee’s wings, exploring non-human modes of perception and interaction.
Among the participating artists/collectives are well-known names like Theaster Gates, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Haegue Yang, Huang Yongping, Allora & Calzadilla, and many more ensuring a diverse mixture of painting, video, installation, sculpture and interdisciplinary works.
