Went to Denver for the OSS Summit with @mason. Three big takeaways: - OSS remains the best form of distribution for enduring dev tools. OSS is non-negotiable deep in the stack. - Everyone is excited about the open source infra enabling AI. The tech is so deep and specialized that the industry has converged around highly optimized public infra for serving, auto-scaling and training. Startups can build atop without worrying about building the vertical stack from scratch. - OSS is aging out and it's existential. Proportion of maintainers under 25 is down 50% over the past 5-years, the industry knows they need to engage the next generation. This is something we're laser-focused on at Merit, with contributor payments and project monetization. More on this coming very soon

Youngsters don't understand the OSS meta where they work for free and arbitrage for status. They get paid for content (Tiktok, Youtube, etc), get paid to build ecosystems via Hackathons, they get paid to boost brands on platforms like Whop. Merit makes this trivial for code, which is much more valuable
