We’re planning to launch a new, optional “Pro” protocol subscription

1. At launch, subscribers will have a Pro badge on their profile

2. Subscription will be onchain and part of the protocol. 100% of the proceeds go to casters / developers in weekly rewards. This in addition to the existing $25K+ a week in rewards. 

3. Planning to add longer casts (10K characters) and up to 4 images per cast for pro subscribers (needs a protocol change). Additional features over time.

4. $120 a year / $10 a month 
Why are we doing this?

- The protocol needs to find long-term revenue source that can continue fund caster and developer rewards beyond any one company.  
- We originally thought storage fees could be that, but we’ve realized that storage fees should be essentialy free to help growth. 
- So we’re trying an opt-in pro subscription as another model

Why now?

- Figuring out a long-term revenue model that works will allow us to double down on investing in growth

I can get behind this. FC has rewarded unofficial “pro badge users” plenty I’ll happily pay to keep contributing to super users to help grow the platform. 

However my question: will the 4 images be a carousel style? Or will all 4 thumbnails show in the cast body?

So glad you asked: for me personally and I would assume for other folks that post photo based content, they would want to maintain full quality of every image by providing an ability to swipe through full size images without clicking into the cast itself. Honestly the way instagram handles it is a great guideline. I’m sure it could use some improvements. But the main thing I think is 

A: ensuring users clearly know there are multiple images in that cast without clicking into the cast (maybe carousel dots at the bottom?)

2: not cropping images in cast similar to how frames used to

I feel like folks like @jonathancolton  @eriks  @inceptionally  @bay-photography  @banthafodderdan @samhorine etc can weigh in more valuably

I’ve noticed recently that images degrade after posting? Like banding and all sorts of issues that I hadn’t seen before?

Yeah I think that’s a money saver right there - keep the low res pre-loaded until someone clicks in since there’s zero shelf life on these posts

Oh I didn’t even realize it was just the preview and the photo when clicked on looks fine
