I have a question for my American self-employed people. How much is your private health insurance per month?

I pay around $110 CAD for mine and it includes drugs, vision, doctors visits etc. I need to add on dental but it should only be another $20-30 a month.

keep in mind that's just basic coverage with fairly high co-pays, like you still end up paying every time you visit a doctor

also basic plans have limited dental/vision/drugs/etc (still gotta pay copay which is often as much as it would cost out of pocket because they inflate the with-insurance prices)

and you're extremely limited to which clinics you can visit and which specialists you can use etc, there's "in network" and "out of network" (which cheap insurance rarely covers)

tbh 500 a mo isn't that bad

in Spain most people have both private and public coverage and you can pay up to 100-300eur per person too for full private coverage

Depends on the state, depends on coverage, depends on family size, depends on your risk tolerance.

My friends are paying upwards of $2k/mo for 2+2 kids in Tennessee.

Could probably get away with a couple hundo for minimal coverage if you're young and risk tolerant, or x5 that on the other extreme. $500/mo is fairly average.
