Friends, there's no easy way to say this. After 300+ days of iteration, we've decided to sunset Yapster and begin again. To some of our most devout believers, I know this is not what you wanted to hear. And I'm sorry. To everyone that played: Thank you. We never took your time, energy, or belief for granted. Here's some context around what led to this decision: Over the last few months, we rebuilt the Yapster app from the ground up. We set out to create the best possible version of the product. One where all the friction points and all the possible confounding variables are gone. The goal was simple: give the core idea the best possible shot. (aka create a launchpad for memes that has the best possible chances of generating runner in a fun and fair way). For a while, it was plausible that the product wasn’t working because of specifics. Maybe the memes that were winning aren't actually what players wanted? Maybe there was too much cheating? Maybe token delivery was too slow? Maybe the free-to-play dynamics were attracting the wrong users? Maybe we just need to maximize token visibility by launching on pump? These were concrete, fixable problems, and we addressed every single of them. When you remove every variable you thought might be breaking the system, and it still doesn't work, you're left with a different kind of question. Is there something structurally wrong with the idea that requires a larger reset? That's ultimately where we landed. You might feel otherwise, but I want you to know the whole team gave this everything we had. Over the last ~6 months, we shipped countless iterations. I personally gave away a 6-figure ($200k+) airdrop. We've worked 80h/week for months. We left no stone unturned. Thank you to everyone who believed, played, yapped, and built alongside us. We’re endlessly grateful.

This is a tough thing to post. It's scary to wind something down in crypto because of how financialized everything is. The default seems to be silence. Just go quiet, stop pushing updates, and move on. But we didn’t want to do that because it hurts our biggest believers the most. We built in public. It only makes sense to shut it down in public too. While the Yapster chapter is over, we’re not done. The team isn’t going anywhere. We’re still here, still building, and still chasing the same feeling that got us into this in the first place. The shape might change. The name might change. But the spirit stays the same.

good luck with what's next @salvino. I know how hard it can be dealing with all the expectations around an app or a token (or both.) Yapster was extremely fun and well-designed, and maybe sometimes things are just with us for a season and that's ok. Look forward to seeing what you do next!
