Satoshi initially proposed Bitcoin as a payments system in the white-paper, but it’s not fit for purpose for three reasons: 1. The value appreciates, so why would you sell it? 2. The network has limited throughput 3. It’s too volatile for merchants Instead, BTC recreated the value layer of the payment stack. We still need to recreate the payments layer of the stack that taps Bitcoin’s value.
