True, I tend to forget that intelligent life is not evenly distributed on our own planet to begin with!

You know people even doubt that Earth is a sphere, so I'm pretty sure that finding life, even a non intelligent form, will not change anything.

Sure, for some people it will change everything. Me included.

But, I bet most will either deny until we really go there (which we can't), or believe it's another science lie or some more proof that god chose humans to be the colonists of the universe...

We may change the playground, but nothing changed if players are still the same...
