We got almost 100 submissions for Tezcon this year - a mix of artists, sponsors, tech people and just random people who see themselves as "forward looking". The Tezos community is relatively small compared to other ecosystems but they do show up when needed. That makes all the difference in the world, really. 🔥

It's noon over here in Seattle - I would highly recommend people submit their entries by tonight since we have our meeting Friday morning and that will likely be the cut-off point. We've gotten over 60-70 submissions so far in total - thanks for the interest! The projectors are gonna be super fun this year. 😁

Hey folks - after a few bug fixes, the beta version of @teiacommunity's copyright registration system is now up and running. We'll probably run it for a month or two before merging it to the main site but the preview is up and running! https://preview.teia.art/copyright Note that this is running on mainnet already so everything you do here will be permanently on-chain. Use with caution! Public listings is a feature we're working on at https://teia.cafe but technically anyone can do it now, too. The goal is to create a marketplace of IP that is neutral. Some of the parents you meet in Tezos can be pretty intense - "These are the kinds of people I want my kids to be around!" Whoa there, nobody agreed to that kind of thing, mate. 😂 I guess trust and diligence is in short supply these days. And XTZ is probably the only place online right now where that is actually demonstrably true - people are actually using the blockchain as intended: transparency and accountability. The ones that are faking it are exactly the types of people you don't want to be around anyway. It's perfectly fine for our bubble to get smaller (at least for now) imo.

Uploaded the how-to guide for TEIA's new copyright/licensing registration feature - we're making the last few changes and should be out to the public, soon. Had a few TEIA members review it so it should give a good idea of how it's going to work in practice once it's up. We're doing a showcase of slides of various things going on in the Tezos ecosystem at Tezcon this year and thought having a few slides about individual bakeries might be cool to have if they were interested. The slide can be basically whatever you want it to be but it'll be in rotation along with other projects and orgs on XTZ. - We're aware that the UI and some language needs some work to make it more legible, but that will be done in a separate PR (probably by me, unless someone else is interested in doing it). Guides and infographics will also come to help educate people on the how-tos and benefits of using a system like this to protect and promote your work as well. It took a bit longer than we would've liked, but we took the necessary steps to make sure it was done correctly so we're hoping this will pay off in the long run. It's decentralized, transparent, and reliable!

- There is a new tab "Copyrights" added to the "Assets" page where you can check the existing agreements you have made. Keep in mind that this registration process is designed to be binding and permanent for professional use - so you should double and triple check that it's something you're comfortable with and doesn't contradict itself. Currently there isn't a feed or platform that displays everything that people have registered, but that is something that we're planning on doing with teia.cafe. - The admin functions for the contract borrows @jagracar's multisig for the core team and gives them full control over the management of the process itself. (Changing the initial text of the agreement, destination addresses, fees, etc.) The # of votes required to pass, the duration of active proposals, and membership are all sync'd to the existing contract so this just gives the team more options to work with. - The previous version where the agreement is attached to the minting process will be deprecated. Existing agreements on v1 are still legally valid - v2 just adds more flexibility that artists were asking for during the feedback process - v2 allows for users to register URLs that are not on Tezos, including regular HTTP links. It is the responsibility on the part of the issuer to maintain and prove that these links are valid, in case of a dispute or broken URLs/IPFS links. The contract does have a verification check (☑️✅) if the work you are registering is minted on either TEIA or a Tezos-based contract (objkt, Scribo, Versum, even contracts that are no longer updated) and the author of the work matches the current wallet address (to prove authorship), which we want to encourage people to do since it's easier just to let the blockchain handle the maintenance and proofs for them.

We're finalizing the push for the copyright registration v2 this week and hoping that it'll get merged soon - at least before Tezcon in late June. We're going to be switching over our focus onto building teia.cafe's radio and marketplace afterwards. Still needs a few weeks of testing but you can experiment with it on TEIA's preview page if you want to get a head start. 🙂 - This will add a new menu item to the top right menu called "copyright" where you can register existing works with licensing declarations (https://preview.teia.art/copyright)

I moved my funds out of Bitcoin and Ethereum at this point in order to invest in the next generation of crypto (like Tezos) but there's a chance those assets could do well just because of their name recognition and the fact that it's "not fiat". Either way, it'd be wise to consider reallocating your portfolio sooner than later because the writing is already on the wall.
