Born during the first bloom of spring, Elisava was said to be kissed by the spirit of the forest, her breath laced with the scent of wild roses and her eyes painted with the clarity of glacial lakes. When she came of age, the village elders wove her a crown an intricate diadem of braided golden hair and hundreds of real flowers picked by hand at dawn. No silk or jewel could rival it. They called it Floarea Vieții the Flower of Life and only the bearer of this crown could become the protector of the village soul. Elisava wore it only once a year, during Ziua Luminii, the Day of Light, when the veil between the worlds thinned and the ancestors returned to walk among the living. Dressed in a scarlet gown embroidered with garnets and obsidian, she would stand beneath the ancient stone arch of the temple ruins and offer a prayer not in words, but in presence her gaze steady, her silence thunderous. As petals trembled with the wind and light caught in her jeweled earrings like stardust trapped in silver.
