I was a teacher and now I work in IT. Helping others brings me joy, as does spending time with my family, learning new things. Love tinkering and making things work better. Love gaming, being pseudo competitive, and using my brain’s capacity for strategy.

Literally did not make enough money to survive. You need a rich significant other or rich parents to pull it off, but my family is poor and my wife is a teacher too. 💀 If I had stuck with Bitcoin after finding it in 2010, I’d still be teaching lol.

Oh yeah. I was just a nerdy kid in a terminally online computer enthusiast forum and some folks were talking about it, mostly in regards to mining. The only website I could find was hosted by MIT, and I dug in a bit, read up on it. When I read that there was a 21m limit, and the creator of this coin had a full 1m to himself, I naturally chalked it up as a scam and moved on. A bit later, tried to use the 5 BTC faucet. Setting up a wallet was confusing and I didn’t have an antivirus installed, so I again noped out. In 2014 I tested mining on my fancy SLI video card setup, but calculated that I could only mine about 1 BTC per month, and didn’t want the electric bill. Also ASICS had just come out and I knew I wouldn’t win the hash rate war with GPUs. Found Ethereum in 2016, mined it in 2017, and didn’t really give a shit about it until DeFi summer in 2020 when it all really clicked, and I dove in head first and haven’t looked back. ETH has not appreciated in value since that time.
