A jumping robot could help in rescue missions, construction, or checking forests. But landing on branches or pipes is tricky. Scientists teamed up to study how squirrels nail it. They built a one-legged bot with squirrel-like balance and leg moves to adjust mid-air. It can fix overshoots or undershoots and stick the landing on thin perches.
