If you love Nintendo games, buy a switch.

If you don't, other consoles (or a gaming PC) are good options.

I have a gaming PC for most games and a Switch for Nintendo franchises. 

Currently waiting for Switch 2 delivery.

(Another important question is how often you would play handheld)

I don't play handheld. Realistically I am nostalgic for Nintendo party games but have no one to play with me.

I'm personally really looking forward to a new play through on some Zelda titles with the Switch 2 versions

Would strongly consider getting a switch if there was a group to play with!

I believe they have multi player? Have never bought a switch but played game cube, Wii, n64

Do the Nintendo party games you enjoy have online multiplayer? 

Few things are as chaotic and fun as Mario Kart online, and I can't wait for the new version in getting in my Switch 2 bundle.
