Life update. I’m over Superman. Not that I was ever a big fan, but I can appreciate the long and enduring run as a superhero franchise. The most recent movie was a mess. Sure, it was great to see the man with the “S” on his chest get knocked around and be close to dying several times, but how it was happening was so unusual. Something felt off. (no spoilers) I realize maybe a third of the way through the perhaps I wasn’t the intended audience. Perhaps it’s Gen Z coded? I don’t know, but I’d love to hear from anyone else who’s watched it to let me know if this Superman spoke to you, and the direction did too. Also, the movie felt extremely political. I think most movies are, but when one of the final boss scenes ends with a rant that almost feels like it’s meant to break the fourth wall and speak directly to the audience, it jars you and breaks the character. I give the movie 3 out of 5 stars. Its redeeming qualities were enough not to drop the score any lower. Signed, Justice Gang 🤣

Here’s my review. I really disliked all of Snyder’s movies besides 300 and generally don’t like Superman. https://farcaster.xyz/rubinovitz/0xf0b8afeb

Something I didn’t realize until going on TikTok is a lot of Gen z seem to like the move because they think the war plot is about Palestine.

precisely. i dont think the movie tried to hide the fact that it has a political leaning and with the current events its easy to see where it gets its inspiration and clear to read its message. not saying that its a bad thing, but when its too on the nose, its distracting. it breaks the movie, the fiction, the escape that most people go to movies for.
