robotics is replaying distributed computing. first you get an autonomy layer that can interpret the swarm and route decisions. then you get early signs of reliable cooperation. then use cases pop up that force constant updates and tight coordination. only then does the comms layer become a binding constraint (price models matter).
as individual robots commoditize the best companies will move up the stack - coordinating one robot becomes a feature. next factories, datacenters etc.
